Musical activities since 1993
DJ Sandstorm is Sander Verhaar, DJ and music producer from the Netherlands.
His style is funky and eclectic. Sandstorm mixes everything with a fat beat and a funky groove. Be it rock with dance or jazz with soul and funk. His favorite music: (old scool) hiphop, breakbeat, soul, jazz, funk and worldgrooves. History: In the 90's Sandstorm started spinning drum and bass, breakbeat and electro and created his first own tracks.
3FM: Since 2000, Sandstorm produces remixes and megamix projects for Dutch Radio 3FM, the public pop-radio station in the Netherlands. Since 2000 he created more than 80 remixes, various megamixes and 9 Yearmixes for Radio 3FM. In 2004 he produced 'mash-mixes' for the television show MTV Mash on MTV UK. Now his 'Operation DJ Sandstorm' mash-mixes are broadcasted every Friday night at 3FM in the radioshow 'Ekstra Weekend'.
Radio 6: Since the summer of 2008 you can also listen to Sandstorm's daily mixes of Jazz, world, soul and funk on Dutch Radio 6 in the shows 'Plaatjesdraaien/ 'Shuffle'.
Besides his radio work, Sandstorm spins soul, funk, jazz, hiphop, world grooves and funky dance grooves at different parties.

2009: DJ Sandstorm continues his weekly Fridaynight mixes on Dutch Radio 3FM.
In January and February continuation of daily mixes with Jazz and Worldmusic for Radio 6 in the radioshow ‘Shuffle’.
2008: DJ Sandstorm continues his weekly Fridaynight mixes on 3FM.
July/ August: Summer mixes with Jazz and World Music for Dutch Radio 6, the national public Jazz and Worldmusic station.
Since September: continuation of mixes for Radio 6, every workday in the radioshow ‘Plaatjesdraaien’.
31-12-09: The 9th DJ Sandstorm Yearmix is aired by 3FM.
2007: DJ Sandstorm continues his weekly Fridaynight mixes on 3FM.
DJ sets for Putumayo World Music @ De Bijenkorf Maastricht en Rotterdam.
31-12-07: The 8th DJ Sandstorm Yearmix is aired by Radio 3FM.
2006: Sandstorm continues his own radioshow ‘Storm Factor’ on KX Radio, and returns to producing his own dancetunes besides his remixing and DJ work.
Since February: Sandstorm produces a weekly 5 minutes mix for Radio 3FM: ‘Mix In The Weekend’, aired every Fridaynight.
Since September these mixes are aired in the radioshow ‘Ekstra Weekend’ and are called ‘Operation DJ Sandstorm.’
June: DJ at Concert At Sea festival, Brouwersdam: 60.000 visitors.
October: DJ at Afterparty ‘Televizier Ring 2006’ (Dutch National Media awards)
31-12-06: The 7th DJ Sandstorm Yearmix is aired by Radio 3FM.
2005: Every three weeks a 10 minute ‘Mix In The Weekend’ on NPS Radio 3FM.
Since june 2005: DJ Sandstorm hosts is own weekly radioshow ‘Storm Factor’ with soul, funk, hiphop and funky dance tunes on KX Radio, the internet station of Dutch DJ Rob Stenders, http://www.kxradio.nl.
30 September: Radio 3FM broadcasts the DJ Sandstorm Nineties Request Mix, a 50 minutes mix featuring 112 tracks (swingbeat, hiphop, pop, rock, dance) of the nineties, all mashed-up.
31-12-05: The 6th Sandstorm Yearmix is aired by KX Radio.
2004: DJ Sandstorm produces Mash-mixes for MTV Mash, broadcasted every Saturday on MTV Europe.
March: one hour breakbeat DJ-set on Kink FM in the breakbeat radio-show “Urban Revolution”, hosted by DJ Loes Lee (http://www.kinkfm.com).
August: three and a half hour DJ set at Lowlands festival 2004.
December: The 5th DJ Sandstorm Yearmix is aired on Radio 3FM.
2003: Besides producing remixes of new and older hits, also remixes of Discoclassics in the radio show Discoclassics Party on TROS 3FM.
2002 - present: Short 80s and 90s mixes for 80s and 90s Request Weeks on Radio 3FM.
Since 2000: besides producing music, remixing for Dutch National Radio 3FM has become a main activity.
1998 and 1999: Live-act at different pop and dance festivals.
1997: DJ contest on Dutch national radio (VPRO 3FM) resulted in spinning at Lowlands festival.
With BOJFC drum ‘n bass 12” release on Kultbox (Chicago) as DJ Sandman: “We eat Tulips for Breakfast; track: “Purity”.
Two tracks released on Urban Sounds (Fonky Fibe): “Dawn’s Delight” on 12” “Phat Shit, Best Of” and “Something Unknown” on the CD “Pop and Dance versus Drum ‘n’ Bass”.
From 1994 until 2002: Radio DJ for dance radio-show “The Rhythm” on Goes FM (local radio station in Goes (Netherlands), with the Beats Op Je Fiets Crew. With BOJFC involved in many drum ‘n bass/ breakbeat parties (DJ and live-act).
Since1995: producer of dance music: drum 'n bass, electro and breakbeat.
Since 1993: Eclectic Breakbeat DJ: hip hop, chemical, electro/techno and breaks.
The 80’s: How it all started: Remixes and Grandmixes on Dutch national Radio 3 by Ben Liebrand inspired Sander to experiment with cassette decks making his first edits and mixes.
